Delverium Server Hosting Guide

Delverium has no native dedicated servers at launch — worlds are host-based via Steam invites. Third-party rented servers exist. Options, limits, and setup.

Last updated:

Delverium does not have native dedicated server support at launch. Multiplayer runs on a host-based model: one player's PC runs the world and friends join through Steam invites. A dedicated server tool is on the developer's radar as a possible future addition, and third-party rented servers already exist as a stopgap. Here are your options.

The three ways to run a Delverium world

OptionCostWorld online 24/7?Status
Host-based co-op (Steam invite)FreeNo — needs host onlineLaunch method
Third-party rented serverSubscriptionYesOffered by providers like Survival Servers
Official dedicated / headless serverTBDYesUnconfirmed — "possible future addition" per the developer

Option 1: standard host-based co-op (recommended to start)

  1. Everyone becomes Steam friends with the host.
  2. The host starts or loads the world.
  3. The host invites friends from the in-game menu / Steam overlay.
  4. Up to 7 friends join — 8 players total.
  5. When the host quits, the world goes offline with their save.

For most groups this is all you need. The catch is scheduling: no host, no world.

Option 2: third-party rented servers

Providers such as Survival Servers sell Delverium server hosting built around the 8-player cap. Their feature list includes automatic world-save backups, full FTP access, NVMe hardware, and DDoS protection. Typical flow:

  1. Pick a slot package (8 slots matches the co-op cap) and region closest to your group.
  2. Configure the server through the provider's control panel.
  3. Connect your group through the provider's join instructions.
  4. The world stays up independent of any single player.

We do not endorse a specific provider — the point is that rented hosting exists if your group needs an always-on world. Evaluate pricing and reviews yourself before subscribing.

Option 3: official dedicated servers — waiting

In the Steam community forums, Sagestone Games described player-hosted dedicated/headless servers as "another option in future" — language that signals interest, not a commitment. There is no announced date or tool as of September 15, 2026. Watch the official channels to catch it the moment it lands:

  • Steam community discussions — where the developer posted the dedicated-server comment.
  • The official Discord (invite linked from the Steam store page).

Common mistakes

  • Paying for hosting before checking you need it. If your group plays together weekly anyway, host-based co-op is free and sufficient.
  • Assuming a rented server changes the 8-player cap. Third-party hosting does not raise the co-op limit — 8 players is the game-side cap.
  • Confusing "hosting provider exists" with "official support". Providers built their tools around the game's host system; the official tooling, if it ships, may work differently.
