Delverium Multiplayer & Co-op Guide

Delverium co-op explained: up to 8 players online, 4-player split-screen, Steam-invite hosting, and mixed couch+online lobbies. How to set up multiplayer.

Last updated:

Delverium supports up to 8 players in online co-op, plus 4-player split-screen on a single PC — and both can be mixed. Multiplayer is a first-class way to play, not a bolt-on: solo is fully supported, but the survival sandbox is balanced around exploring, farming, and delving dungeons together. Here is exactly how multiplayer works and how to set up a session.

Split-screen + online mixedYesConfirmed in official Steam news

The 8-player cap is the headline: early Delverium materials described 4-player co-op, but the February 2026 multiplayer demo update expanded online co-op to 8 — anything still saying "4-player online" is outdated.

How to start a co-op session

Delverium lobbies are host-based: one player owns the world and invites friends.

  1. Make sure everyone is Steam friends with the host.
  2. The host starts (or loads) their world.
  3. The host invites friends through the in-game menu / Steam invite.
  4. Invited players drop into the host's world — no separate server needed.
  5. Players can come and go between sessions; the world persists with the host's save.

Because there is no dedicated server tool at launch, the world is only online while the host is playing. See server hosting for workarounds.

Split-screen: couch co-op for four

Local play supports up to 4 players on one PC via split-screen. Each player needs their own controller — this is a gamepad-friendly game (Steam Deck is Verified). Official Steam news also confirmed simultaneous split-screen + online play: a couch of local players can share their lobby with remote friends.

Note: one co-op database (Co-Optimus) still lists combo co-op as unsupported — that entry predates the February 2026 demo update and is outdated. The official Steam announcement takes priority.

Drop-in / drop-out

Community sources describe Delverium co-op as drop-in/drop-out friendly — friends can join mid-session without restarting the world. The fine details (mid-dungeon joining, progress syncing for late joiners) are unconfirmed until we test the launch build.

One open question: pause in menus

A recurring Steam discussion asks whether the game pauses while the inventory, crafting, or map is open — several survival games attack you through menus, others freeze. The current behavior is unconfirmed; we will test and update this page at Early Access launch.

Multiplayer common questions

Do all players need their own copy of the game? Yes. Delverium is a standard Steam title — each of the 8 players owns the game (or plays the demo, which also supports 8-player online). There is no free host side.

Does the host get advantages? The host's PC runs the world, so host stability matters, but there is no host-only content. If the host has the weakest PC in the group, consider rotating hosts between sessions or reading server hosting.

Can consoles play with PC? No console version exists — see crossplay. Everyone is on Steam, which makes "crossplay" moot for now.

How does saving work with 8 players? The world lives in the host's save. Visiting players keep their character gear (community-reported; exact character-persistence rules across hosts are unconfirmed). Treat the host's world as the campaign.

Is there PvP? No PvP mode appears in any official material — Delverium is presented as co-op survival. If this changes, our updates feed will note it.

What's the ideal group size? Two to four is the sweet spot for resource-gathering efficiency; full eight-player sessions shine for world boss fights and dungeon pushes, where role division (see builds) really pays off.
