Delverium Builds: Melee & Ranged Roles
Delverium builds explained: no classes or skill trees — your build is your crafted gear. Melee frontline and ranged support roles for solo and 8-player teams.
Last updated:
Delverium builds work differently from most RPGs: there are no classes and no skill trees. Your build is simply the weapons, armor, and gear you craft and carry. Community play has settled on two broad roles — a melee frontline and a ranged support — and in an 8-player co-op game, choosing a role and crafting toward it matters more than any single item.
No classes means freedom with responsibility
Because progression is gear-driven (see crafting recipes), nothing locks you into a role. You can carry a sword one day and a bow the next. The flip side: nobody is forced into a healer or tank box, so your group should agree on coverage before a dungeon run — otherwise everyone shows up melee.
The two core roles
| Role | Gear focus | Job in the team |
|---|---|---|
| Melee (frontline) | Close-range weapons, heavy armor | Hold enemy attention, protect ranged players, anchor dungeon chokepoints |
| Ranged (support) | Bows/ranged weapons, lighter armor | Damage from safety, pick targets, cover the frontline's approach |
Community build guides converge on this split for the demo's combat. Exact armor values, weapon stats, and any gear-tier system are unconfirmed until launch testing — we will publish verified tables instead of guesses.
How 8-player teams divide the work
With up to 8 players (see multiplayer), a dungeon run in Delverium is closer to a raid than a stroll:
- Melee anchor — one or two frontline players lead and body-block.
- Ranged line — three or four players deal sustained damage behind the anchor.
- Utility players — the rest carry food, building materials, and spare tools; someone handles portals/traversal, someone manages supplies.
Roles are soft — a ranged player with a backup melee weapon covers a fallen anchor — but deliberate composition beats eight lone wolves.
Building your first kit
For a beginner, the practical order is:
- Craft a workable weapon of your preferred role early (weapons reference).
- Craft armor one tier behind your weapon — survivability scales your time-on-target.
- Keep a movement/escape option; dungeon entrances are chokepoints on the way out too.
- Only then push deeper tiers of the same role instead of spreading thin.
What we will add at launch
- Verified armor values per set
- Weapon-role pairings with damage data
- Dungeon-specific build adjustments
- Solo vs co-op build tweaks
Numbers arrive only from live testing — nothing on this page is invented.
